'This summer I hear the drumming..'
Today is the 40th anniversary of the deaths of four students at Kent State University in Ohio, during a protest over the war in VietNam, an event often described as a 'wound in the nation's history'.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is hosting a panel tonight on the Kent State campus examining the relationship between music, the war, and protest.

Followed the link to the USA Today article. I'm not sure at all what the implications are of the Kent State shootings. The iconic image tells its story, the tragic deaths tell their story as well. Did we as Americans realize the power of our differences to wound and kill? Did we come to distrust policemen with guns? My suspicion is that the events are sort of a RoarShack (ok I have NO idea what the correct spelling is and no easy way here to look it up) where we paint the events with a patina of our own perspectives, build a narrative to support our own views.
